(Deficits)
Break yourself just to break even
It's not the mileage that makes the wounds deepen
It's the prices we pay keeping demons at bay
Clenched fists try to break the chains that course through society's veins
Economic loss, corrupted lies, environment breaking
Hide the flaws, maintain the guise, while our Earth is quaking
When the world fades to grey we flee from the dark
Sit atop pedestals and let our world fall apart
Arrogantly thinking we've left our mark
All I can see is a mark of shame
Materialism: our claim to fame
Not much to do but watch the card house collapse
All that can save us? A tug on the bootstraps
Too bad we sold those boots for material wealth
Who'd have thought, hard work is good for a nation's health
Where we went wrong? I don't know, It's really quite the caper
But i do know we're standing barefoot with pockets lined with worthless paper..
